I have a problem in that my family has no idea what I do.  I found this list of jobs that I would expect very few people would understand what the job entails.  My favorite is Horologist since it sounds like I work with horoscopes or that I like whores.

Horologist - someone who makes watches

Lexicographer - a person who puts together a dictionary

Vintner - person who makes and sells wines

Tactician - one who plans military tactics

Stevedore - individual who loads and unloads cargo from ships

Bailiff - this person takes charge in the court when the judge calls for order

Cryptographer - an expert who deciphers secret languages

Tanner - a maker of prepared animal hides

Foundry Worker - one who makes metal castings

Reflexologist - person who relieves stress and balances body functions

Horticulturist - one who works with plants, people and the environment
